Alex is the best at what she does! Alex visits my two Lab mix twice a day sometimes two times a week! My girls either get walked or played with or both. She is very knowledgable about animals and services for them. If you are looking for a pet sitter who is trustworthy, conscientious, flexible, look no further. Alex and While You Were Out is the pet sitting business I’ve been looking for! My partner and I moved to San Jose almost 2 years ago, and have tried out a few pet sitters since then, but always had some form of problems with them. I never worry when I leave my pets with Alex. She not only takes good care of my cats, two of whom have to be given daily medications, she often does a little something extra for them too. For example, I came home once after a Christmas trip to find she had given the cats some small holiday toys (that they still play with)! And, she had converted the cardboard box of a cat litter shipment into a little playhouse for them that we kept because the cats love it so much. Alex is THE best! While on vacation our 10 gallon fish tank sprung a leak and drenched my daughter’s dresser. Alex called to tell us what happened and that the fish was fine – in fact, she relocated the fish to a temporary bowl at her house until we returned home. What she didn’t tell us was that she’d cleaned up the mess, emptied the top drawers of their soaking wet contents and put everything into the garage to prevent further damage – really, above and beyond. There isn’t anyone I’d trust more with my pets and my home.

We recently had Alex take care of our dog while on vacation. Our dog Sasha falls into the category of “special needs” – she has degenerative myelopethy which means limited use of her back legs. She is in rehab and has a very specific exercise routine that must be done every day. We hired Alex because of her animal medical background and her familiarity with canine rehab. Unlike a regular pet baby sitter, Alex completely understood the sort of special care Sasha needs. We were gone for a full week and were able to relax and not worry about Sasha knowing she was in extremely capable hands.
